Celebrate your independent spirit In Sydney

Applications for the Seasonal Clerkship Program are open to all students in their penultimate year of law.

Corrs is a signatory to the NSW Law Society’s Legal Graduate Employment and Summer Clerkship Guidelines (participating in the summer clerkship recruitment scheme only).

Seasonal Clerkship Program

The Sydney Seasonal Clerkship Program runs over the course of the summer.

The Program involves a unique rotation system, through which you will participate in three rotations, giving you the opportunity to work across each division of the firm. It’s the perfect way to discover the area of law that excites you the most.

Like everyone at Corrs in Sydney, you will be sitting in pods with partners and lawyers, giving you exposure to greater learning and knowledge sharing, as a result of our new workspace, 8 Chifley.

You will be closely supervised by Clerk Coordinators, who are senior lawyers. You will also have a mentor, a more junior lawyer who will answer any questions you may have about the firm, settle you in and provide you with an informal level of support and guidance during your time at Corrs.

Along with ongoing feedback, structured learning opportunities include a comprehensive orientation program, presentations on relevant legal, business and workplace issues and partner connect sessions.

Your clerk cohort will also undertake a pro bono project for the duration of the summer. This offers you the opportunity to learn quickly by working on an interesting and worthwhile project that delivers a tangible outcome of your time with us.

The 2012 clerks completed a guide on the legal framework concerning Nepalese migrant workers. This work was done for the Diplomacy Training Program (DTP) based at the law faculty of UNSW to support the DTP’s Nepal Project, with its focus on the human rights challenges of increased labour migration from Nepal.

You will also be provided with a number of opportunities to shadow lawyers who are undertaking community legal centre secondments with Public Interest Law Clearing House, Inner City Legal Centre, Redfern Legal Centre, Marrickville Legal Centre and the Homeless Persons’ Legal Service.

The secondments are a great way for clerks to contribute to the community and to experience the working environment in a not-for-profit organisation.

But it’s not all about work! You will also have the opportunity to be involved in a variety internal and inter-firm social and sporting activities.
